Position: Patent Attorney

Max W. Garwood was born in Huntington, Indiana. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1973, and a Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue in 1975, and thereafter worked for the Department of Defense as an Electronics Engineer for over twenty years. His employment with the DoD involved him in the design approval and testing of avionics, navigational and terminal guidance systems, communications, and control systems. While he was employed with DoD, he commercially designed software for production control and test systems; and he served as an adjunct faculty member, teaching calculus, physics, electronics and drafting. Max obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Indiana University at Indianapolis, Indiana.

Areas of Practice:

Max has a MS in electrical engineering and specializes in patent matters relating to electrical, electronics and software technologies. He still lives on a farm that has been in his family for 3 generations, and he has a very strong background in agricultural technologies. Max worked for the US Military in the area of guidance systems at the White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico; therefore, has a very strong background in any of the electronics arts. Max also previously owned and managed his own software company prior to law school and has a very strong background in the software arts. He also advises clients on matters relating to trademarks and copyrights.
