Position: Patent Attorney
Raymond W. Campbell was born in Ashland, Wisconsin on May 5, 1952. He obtained Bachelor degrees (Magna cum Laude) in chemistry and political science (with Departmental Distinction) from Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin. Ray obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree (cum Laude) from Notre Dame University. He was in private practice for two years in South Bend, Indiana, then worked as an in-house Patent Attorney for The Trane Company, where his technical responsibilities included industrial heat exchangers and heat pumps. For sixteen years, Ray was in the Patent Department of Beloit Corporation (a worldwide supplier of equipment for the pulp and paper industry), Division of Harnischfeger Industries, serving first as Assistant Patent Counsel, then Patent Counsel and finally as Chief Patent Counsel. Ray was a regularly scheduled guest lecturer on Intellectual Property Law in the Blackhawk Vocational School Legal Secretary Program.
Areas of Practice:
Ray has a BS in chemistry and specializes in patent matters relating to mechanical and electro-mechanical technologies. He grew up on a farm, and he still has a very strong background in agricultural technologies. As Chief Patent Counsel for a multi-national company for almost 2 decades, Ray’s experience is well rounded, and he advises clients on all aspects of intellectual property protection.
Patent law including opinions (patentability, [in]validity and [non]infringement) searches, applications, prosecution, design-around consultation, licensing and development agreements, confidentiality and related agreements. General intellectual property consultation including due diligence investigations.
